900 Miles - Day 15

DAY 15

We did it. We hit our mark today and are at 900 miles for 15 days. HALF WAY THERE! We can do it!!! That’s a great feeling. Right now we are eating out to celebrate! It’s a steak house in Hinton, Alberta, about 40 miles short of Jasper.

Toasting our current success (we even got Tim to have a beer in celebration). Please understand, eating out is a BIG TREAT all by itself. Mostly we eat out of the refrigerator with Tim’s help mostly doing a little cooking (and Todd Elert’s help with pre-made dishes he gave us). The place hasn’t even opened up and we can use wifi here (we always do whenever we can) but they opened early for us and are very nice as everyone in Canada has been so far. I should mention we are not dressed the best for a steak house as we have on our Grace Fund T-shirts and shorts.

Let’s talk about something that is amazing, we had 38 days of bike riding in training and we’ve had 15 days here bike riding. That’s 53 days. Do you know how many days it rained during our ride? NONE! Is that amazing. Today, yes TODAY at the end of the ride we had a rain shower. Mike got wet riding and so did I walking. Not sure if that counts or not. We are BLESSED! Thank you God!

What else can I tell you -- I’d like to share about how expensive everything is in Canada, but I’ll wait till later; we are celebrating tonight! We hope to call Pastor Ralph tomorrow morning at the beginning of Sunday service. We’ll see if he answer’s the phone when we call!

One final thing...A BIG THANK YOU To Tim Bradwell. Yes, until the day before we left we weren’t sure if it was going to be just Mike and me or what. Tim stepped up (I didn’t even know him - no clue). But I must say that without question we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Tim. He has rescued us too many times (He is MR FIXIT). He is also called “Brad” but that’s another story and if you ask he has a million other stories, but that’s another story. Anyhoo, we owe this trip to Brad and his putting up with us and helping us out on this trip. Thank you Tim.
